How to Save Money on Flights
Cheap airfare is not only about finding the lowest headline fare. The better goal is to compare the total cost and choose a flight that fits your schedule and baggage needs.
Compare flexible dates
If your trip allows flexibility, check nearby departure and return dates. A small shift can change the fare substantially, although savings vary by route and season.
Check nearby airports
Look at practical alternative airports when available. Include the cost and time of getting from the airport to your final destination before deciding that an alternative is cheaper.
Watch the total fare
Compare baggage, seat selection, payment fees and other mandatory charges. A low base fare can become less attractive once extras are included.
Consider the schedule
An overnight connection or very early departure may reduce the ticket price but add hotel, transport or lost-time costs. A slightly higher fare can sometimes be better value.
Book with a clear budget
Set a maximum total transport budget before searching. This helps you compare options objectively instead of chasing every small price change.
Before paying
- Confirm passenger names and dates.
- Check baggage allowance.
- Review the cancellation or change conditions.
