10-Day Italy Itinerary for First-Time Visitors
Ten days is enough for a memorable first taste of Italy if you resist the temptation to add too many stops. This route focuses on three major bases.
Days 1–3: Rome
Use your first three days for ancient history, major churches and lively neighborhoods. Group nearby sights on the same day and leave time for an unplanned walk or long meal.
Days 4–6: Florence
Move to Florence and focus on art, architecture and food. One day can be devoted to the historic center, another to museums or viewpoints, and the third to a slower day or optional nearby excursion.
Days 7–10: Venice
Finish in Venice. Explore early in the day and again later when the busiest periods have passed. Give yourself time to wander beyond the most photographed streets.
Transport strategy
For a route like this, compare point-to-point rail tickets with any current rail products before buying. Reserve seats when required and keep your luggage manageable for stations and accommodation.
How to adjust the route
If you prefer food and countryside, replace a city day with a smaller-town excursion. If museums are your priority, keep all three bases and reduce day trips.
