7-Day Thailand Itinerary for a First Trip

With only seven days, Thailand is best approached as two experiences rather than a race across the whole country.

Days 1–3: Bangkok

Spend your first days exploring neighborhoods, temples, markets and food. Mix major sights with ordinary street life and leave one evening unplanned.

Days 4–7: Choose one second base

For beaches, choose one southern destination and stay there rather than island-hopping every day. For culture and mountains, choose a northern base and explore at a slower pace.

Why only two bases?

Every move costs time. A seven-day trip has enough value in it already; reducing transfers gives you more time to experience each place.

Food planning

Try a mix of street food, local restaurants and one or two planned meals. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, learn the relevant local phrases before your trip and communicate them clearly.

Practical planning

Confirm current entry requirements, domestic transport schedules, accommodation policies and weather conditions before final booking. Thailand's regions can have different weather patterns.
